Yeah! I'm Home!
Our trip started off with a free upgrade to business class & direct flight by Cathay Pacific due to the flight was overbooked. We had a complementary meal at the Airport from them too by accepting the offer of changing the flight.
In the flight, we met Mr. Tan - A Taiwanese who has business dealing with Proton. He was really kind to offer us a ride to our Hostel in town...Furthermore, he came back by surprise with his wife to spend us dinner at "Din Tai Fung" main branch which is well known of their "Siao long pao". He took us for a walk too after dinner..Special thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Tan of their hospitality.
Subsequent days, we met up with many other very nice people...Once at Tarako National Park, we met a university professor whom he teaches Fine Art & Photography. He was with his students on a field trip. Guess what, he was so kind that he taught us some simple trick of getting a nice photo out of our own camera...hehe...turned out good!
Then it was my local tour guide in Hualien, a Singapore blogger fren recommended her. Thumbs up to Vivian (tour guide)....I would recommend her to any of my friends if they planning to visit Hualien. Vivian is really good in explaining the history of Hualien, relating stories, took us for a free of charge cultural show; look for cheap & good food!! haha.. oya, she even picks us up from train station, took us to hotel for check in & extended her tour guide service up to 12hrs.
At Alishan, we met some exciting people with great stories too. There were two pairs of father & daughter in our sunrise seeing group.
One of the pair was Taiwanese moved to Canada more than a decade & was back in Taiwan to visit their relative. The father likes taking photographs; we were amused to see him running up & down, in & out the forest taking photos. He was so energetic.
The other pair was Taiwanese too; the father travelled more than 130 countries since his retirement. Not forgetting the 9 times experiences in South Africa & 7 times in Egypt. He was with us on top of Alishan shortly after his one month old spinal surgery. Tough guy, yet humble thou. haha...his words to us "Travel as much while u can, u will never know how much u can learn from it every time".
In general, Taiwanese are really helpful & friendly people..See how God works wonder...we get to meet so many nice people, stranger that we hardly even know them but yet they extended their help & warm welcome to us that makes our trip so memorable. It really touches our hearts & means so much to us.
I’m still waiting for my friends to give me their copies of photos so that I can post it up in this blog. We took nearly 3000 photos including video clips. Taiwan is just too beautiful...will write more when the photos available.

Take off in 28hours 30mins & **** seconds!!
I was on the phone with this lovely travel agent in Taiwan yesterday...
"Hey, how's the weather now??" I asked...
Apparently she replied in a complaint manner :"Aww...is getting so cold for the past two days..u know, i'm wearing layers of clothes to cover me up." haha... I laugh.
"But what's the forecast for the up coming one week?? I read in the internet saying there going to be tonnes of rain by time i reach Taiwan."
"Oh...no worries, internet forecast often not accurate...weather will be perfectly fine...except..errr..is cold..." Again, she gave a little sigh after she finished talking.
Nway, i'm a bit doubtful about the weather thingy...to be on safe side, umbrella is a must in my luggage...hehe. Until then...See u all again in a week time.

Memory Lane - My Dearest Dad & his marathon
While I was sorting out some of my old stuff in the box last night, I found a stack of photo albums which contain many of my childhood photos. To my surprise...haha...i found quite a number of my dad photos taken during his marathon back in 90's. (I wonder how these photos are in my box, must have took it from dad's drawer when i moved to KL years back...just cant remember...ah!! nevermind..hehe)
My dad stopped running 4yrs ago after he met an accident & broken his leg....His a healthy person & did his running daily at the lake. I still remember when he knew that he needed a surgery, the first thing he asked : " Doctor, can i continue running after this???"
"No, I'm afraid not...maybe big walk if u are lucky...but no more running for u." I saw my dad sad eyes & quiet down in the hospital. He was happy eventually when he got to know that i pick up running a year back. Sometimes, he will call & check out my progress in run..Many times he will give advice & relate his story about his run...I guess these bring both of us closer. Thanks Dad!! You the best!!
Well, check out these photos of his ....they are in hardcopy, luckily i managed to use my camera & re-cap these images...turn out not bad though...hehe
Larian Obor - dad is on right hand side
Dont ask me - really no idea what run is this...but Dad smack in the middle of all the tall uncles
Yet another unknown run - Dad infront with his trophy

Another Great Story from my thoughful friend
******************
A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.
She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention, but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!
'And what do you want?' the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages,' he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
'Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,' Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. 'He's really, really sick..and I want to buy a miracle.
''I beg your pardon?' said the pharmacist.
'His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?'
'We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you,' the pharmacist said, softening a little
'Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.'
The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, 'What kind of a miracle does your brother need?'
' I don't know,' Tess replied with her eyes welling up. I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money.''
How much do you have?' asked the man from Chicago
'One dollar and eleven cents,' Tess answered barely audibly.'And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.'
'Well, what a coincidence,' smiled the man. 'A dollar and eleven cents---the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. '
He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said 'Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need.'
That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well. Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.
'That surgery,' her Mom whispered. 'was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?' Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost...one dollar and eleven cents....plus the faith of a little child.
In our lives, we never know how many miracles we will need.A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a higher law. I know you'll keep the ball moving! Here it goes. Throw it back to someone who means something to you! A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end. It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends. But the treasure inside for you to see is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me.
MY OATH TO YOU...When you are sad.....I will dry your tears. When you are scared.....I will comfort your fears. When you are worried.....I will give you hope. When you are confused.....I will help you cope. And when you are lost....And can't see the light, I shall be your beacon.....Shining ever so bright. This is my oath.....I pledge till the end.Why you may ask?.....Because you're my friend.Signed: GOD

Little time to spare yet I'm happy
Had some little hiccups within the week, worst one was this morning but nothing too serious la...I run over a small metal thing on highway heading to Semenyih site and flatted my months old tyre...now have to depend on my spare tyre before i replace a new one ASAP.
I've to travel down to S'pore in less than two weeks for Standchart Int Marathon...keke...i only registered for 10km (beginner mah...haha) but i can foresee i'll drag myself to the finishing line due to lack of training. (Gosh! praying hard that i dont ended up in the ambulance or pickup bus provided by the organiser)
I'm going to Taiwan for a yearly travelling thingy in less than a month...yet, i've just managed to secured 4 nites out of 6 nites accomodation in Taiwan...year end mah...everyone going for holiday...some popular places like Alishan & Hua Lien are quite fully booked. Have been looking for options that meet my budget yet the location has to be strategic....aiyo! Luckily managed to sort out a rough itinery with my two gal frens yesterday meet up..the rest have to depend on my copy of "daily planet" once we are there.
In a month time, Christmas approaching...promised to join the Choir....i'm down with sorethroat for the past one week...hopefully i'm ok when the practice start.

A Wonderful Dog Story....Email sent by a thoughtful friend
It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease, she was just sure it was fatal. She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders. The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him. The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death.
The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable.
Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap. Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed. When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem. She was covered, literally blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned!
While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love.Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every night.
It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free.Lucky? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure.
Live everyday to the fullest. Remember it is a blessing from God.The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards... They're the ones who care. "Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
"Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God....and May the Lord Bless You Always."

Updates
As for myself, I've just tendered my resignation again....not that i'm having trouble working in the current company but is more like a personal problem. Ie. travelling 4hrs in total to another state - Seremban,N. Sembilan by train everyday is too hectic for me & has been making me sick quite often. Enough is enough....i choose to leave.
There are few things that i'm looking forward to though till next year...starting of my new path after resignation, Going home (Taiping) during my transition before i start working again,Many runs that resume after Puasa, Trip to Taiwan, Singapore & likely UK....Christmas, my birthday, Alden's graduation (hehe...can travel), Shirley's wedding & house warming...last but not lease options on job opportunity or more. These should keep me bz enough...hehe

An Evergreen Song - Amazing Grace
While working on my report, it seems like there a voice from the back of my mind asked me to listen to "Amazing Grace". To my relieve, I felt a sudden peace in me after listening to it... Is The Harry Potter Season..
Exactly 12midnite (UK) time, marked the released of the long waited finale for Harry Potter book - Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows. As a Harry Potter fan, I checked out the websites first thing in the morning on news worldwide related to the book launch.
Is so crazy to know fans worldwide actually Q up (opps...more precisely, camping) for hours to get the first touch on the book.
Bookstores in M'sia did their best effort to make this lauch memorable & magical...Like Kinokuniya in KLCC, the set up a fat lady portrait of Gryffindor at the store entrance & award those first three in the Q that given the correct password a limited edition of Deathly Hallows worth RM235.
Unfortunately there are bad news to this too...The Ugly price was has made the major bookstores here to withdraw all Deathly Hallows from their Shelves...i need not write it all here..just click the link below.
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/7/21/nation/18369076&sec=nation
I wonder was it a good idea to do so...who will be the loosing end..One end protecting the bookstores & distributor....One end helping the readers to pay lower for the book.
Anyway...I'm waiting for my long ordered copy to arrive soon from UK...Glad to know that The Six movie of Harry Potter will start filming this coming September & will be release in 2010....Cant wait!

Seremban Half Marathon
Photo taken by Tey, the carton of isotonic drink is a result of my lucky draw...hehe...kinda lucky that day...happy.
Overall, i enjoyed the run...personal timing improved & unexpected ranking in my category...even though there were still illegal selling RM 1 drinking water along the running route which pissed many many runners.
Looking back, i was once telling others it will be crazy if i can ever do a 10km run...hehe...& now...i did it..& more to come. I'm quite happy actually...pushing my limit everytime i run, regardless the timing or distance. I hope i can complete a 21km in future to come..

I was so geram to see a fine layer of haze dust slowly covering my windscreen while I was driving to work this morning...Gosh! really dont know how much longer before our friendly neighbour will learn the mistake that they have been doing again & again...I wonder they ever will.

Penang Bridge Run & makan trip...
(Happy Family??? haha...took this pic when we were in Ghee Him)
(one of the famous fried kuey teow stall - "Sisters Fried kuey Teow" crazily waited for the long Q yet nice cha kuey teow)
(Houn enjoying himself with latest Penang delicacy near Kek Lok Si Temple...hahahaha)
(Latest highlight in Kek Lok Si Temple - incline lift leading to the big Kuan Yin figure ontop of hill)
(Hainan Westernfood @ Mt Eskerin Road - I got to know this plc via a TV program Named "Ah Xian - Jason" the way the cook are special & reasonably cheap. Oneself can choose the best suitable sauce from one the 7 types of sauces)
Day 3 (Monday) - The craziest day...we ate until Mr "Chin Yan" & Mr Pak surrendered! From Penang Famous Teow Chew Cendol to Taiping Ice blended red bean & Kuih , then Ipoh "Yong tau fu" to Gopeng Durian & Bidor famous "duck noodle".
(chit chatting while waiting for more cendol to come)
(Ipoh "under the big tree" Yong Tau Fu - Best in Ipoh)
(Mr. "Chin Yan" bargaining on behalf us with the pakcik Durian...haha...funny, he went to an extent of playing "one, two, som" in order to get cheaper price)

Girls lepak day....
The nite continued with another round of window shopping before we decided to check out The Sky Bar on 33rd Floor of Traders Hotel which situated next to KL Convention Centre. It is a superb chill out space with an open air pavillion perched on the roof appears to almost float in the clouds with great almost 360deg KL views overlooking KLCC, Genting & Bintang walk. Personally...really good place to celebrate birthday, holiday eve or romantic outing for two...the night view just simply magnificent!!
(View from higher floor)
** Note : the buffet starts at 5pm - 7pm, normal hours they serve ala-carte
